Cossacks 2012

FEATURE FILM
“HOW THE COSSACKS PLAYED FOOTBALL”
DIRECTOR’S CONCEPT

This dramatic, adventurous and action-filled story needs accurate direction. Creating a lively moving picture is a difficult but very artistic task, for this movie it will be like animating comics. Certainly, we’re not pioneers in this trend; there are many examples of similar successful projects. To name only “Asterix and Obelix”.

To complete this creative goal one needs skillful use of high-end cinematographic technologies and accurate use of stage production. This does not mean that the film should become just another computer stuffed flick demonstrating capabilities of modern computer technologies or another children’s movie. The genre will be essentially an amusement ride movie for the broadest audience. Computer technologies will assist only where shooting on camera is too complex. The moving “live” cam will create an effect of presence on the football match while different angles and creative use of wide-angle optics will increase the comic effect. It is possible to experiment with different colour grading for every episode of the movie, which is taking place in Ukraine, Poland, Spain, France and England; and find unique colour toning for every location to amplify artistic integrity of the movie.

Not only the picture must be expressive and vivid but also the actors’ performance; the movie is an adventurous comedy with elements of farce and parody.

For every episode – Ukraine, Poland, Spain, France and England we’d like to invite well known actors from these countries to play episode-specific characters such as the Holy Father and Queen Elizabeth in Spain, or King St. Louis XIII, Anna of Austria and Richelieu in France. The actor for the leading role of Vakula-the blacksmith should be an already well-known or a new rising movie star. The participation of the football stars in the casting should attract the huge audience of football fans.
