Layout & Pre-Vis

Is the draft of the VFX shot, like an animated CG storyboard. It gives an overview of the shot serving as a guide to VFX and a reference for shooting footage. Clients can give us a feedback as early as the pre-vis stage, saving time and money and ensuring that their vision is fully realized.

Roto-scoping. Retouch. Wire removal.

Is an isolation of the specific object from a photographic plate. If an element is to be put into the background of a plate, or behind the actors – the roto team digitally cuts out or paints away wires, safety equipment, crew, lights so you would never realise it was there.

Chroma keying. Green screen

Is a technique for mixing two images together, when a color from one image is removed, revealing another image behind it.

Match Move

Is the foundation for all 3D work. It’s a 3D camera, which matches the live-action camera lens and movement spot on. Whenever a 3D object, moving character, environment, prop or vehicle must interact with the live-action shooting, additional object tracking is necessary.

Image Stabilization

In postproduction is required for footage shot from the moving car, bullet time effects etc.

Environments

Are everything that is not a character; this can be anything from 3D set extension to single element required for a shot, or an entire city. It can be a matte painting projected on the model or full CG elements. Our team use both artistic and technical approaches to achieve clean integration into a good looking and realistic image.

Matte painting

Is used to create your ideal location, changing sunny scenery to snowstorm or building the old castle in the studio. CG images can constitute entire sets, or extend portions of a shot environment. The paintings can be projected onto a 3D environment, allowing for camera movements.

Compositing

Is the the final step of assembling multiple layers into the final image. Live action footages are combined with 3D creations, matte paintings, FX elements and other plates to give the impression the dreamt imagery was all captured on set. Colours are matched, green-screens are keyed, light wrap is created, ground interactions are formed and any number of lens warps or film effects added until the seamless shot is created.

Color grading

Is an artistical process of balancing the colours of the footage captured on set. A specific look can set the atmosphere add or enhance a distinctive mood and tone to a final imagery.
